BabaAmte
“Great heroes of history are nothing to me. The ‘Uncommon determination’ in the ‘Common man’ is my ideal. I do not want to be a great leader. I want to be a man who goes around with an oil-can, offering help wherever needed. To me, the man who does this is greater than any holy man in a saffron robe. The mechanic with the oil-can is my ideal in life…”
The same principle connected Baba with people.

From Light to the Darkness
We speak a lot about those who have travelled the journey from darkness to light. Someone prudently said that ‘Baba was a person who travelled from light to the darkness’. After enabling underprivileged, leprosy-stricken individuals, disabled he didn’t stop; instead he searched for those who didn’t have access to opportunities, aiming to reach and bring the light to the last person who never saw the light.

Baba lived
a series of lives in
one life.
He always said
“God is my patient. He is ill because he does not walk or talk. He is deaf to the needy. He needs treatment! And he is extremely busy. Galaxy has many solar systems and he has to attend to them. So we should let him work and we should do our work.”
In all, he didn’t believe in the system of God, where one just puts responsibility on him and lives a life without any action. Baba didn’t believe in incarnation because he lived a series of lives in one life. I am affluent in the affection which society has showered on me. He used to say,
“When the time comes to say adios, I would be content.”.

SadhanataiAmte
“Someone once said, in the journey of Maharogi Sewa Samiti and beyond, Baba always received the limelight. Still, one can commemorate Sadhanatai as the enduring flame throughout Baba's life.” Baba was honoured with umpteen awards, yet, Sadhanatai had nothing but eternal gratitude for Baba; because her life was no different from HIS.

Whenever Baba Amte is mentioned, Indu is also present (though invisible!). Although these two personalities were radically different, their lives flowed together. The symbiosis of these two continues FOREVER, as Sadhanatai always used to say -
I sought my Lover, My Lover I could not see…
I sought my Friend, My Friend eluded me…
I sought my Husband, and I found all three…
